El Centro College  Fall 2008 Credit - Distance Learning (All)

Each Distance Learning course is equal to the on-campus section of the same course in terms of content and transferability. Students must meet prerequisites or provide assessment scores where applicable.

A Distance Learning course will transfer to other institutions in situations where the on-campus section of the same course will transfer; however, students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution should consult the catalog of that institution and work with an advisor in planning their academic programs. Material about transfer information is available at each college's Advising/Counseling Center.

CUST-2370  Cultural StudiesEl Centro College [ECC]
CUST-2370 is part of the DCCCD Core Curriculum Humanities Component Area.
This course is part of a seven-credit hour learning community entitled "Voting Rights of the Historically Disenfranchised". Students enrolling in this section are automatically enrolled in its co-requisites (cultural studies, speech, and service learning). This learning community is designed to introduce students to the idea of democracy throughout human history. This experience will highlight the disenfranchised (who, what, when, how, and why) and in what ways that disenfranchisement has challenged and continues to challenge the very notion of democracy. The service learning component of the course will prepare students to impact this phenomenon.
