| | This is a hybrid course which combines both online instruction
and on-campus events. Orientation will be held on Sunday, 12 at
2 p.m. in W281.
"Magic and Magical Realism" supports the college's Common Book
Project for 2010-2011 that will address Laura Esquivel's novel,
"Like Water for Chocolate," a classic text of "magical realism."
Students will study the history and art of magic, create and
perform a magical act, write a piece of "flash fiction," and read
and write about selections of "magical realism" that blend the
supernatural, the magical, and the natural (observable) universe.
This course is ideal for those students who enjoy the exploration
of mystery and the "wonderful" and like creative writing and
performance. Prerequisite: ENGL 1301. |
