| | Masculinity in the 21st Century: What does it mean to be a man,
to man up? How does a boy become a man? What are the
challenges, benefits to being a man in today's culture compared
to 50 or 100 years ago? This CORE course will seek to answer
these questions and more by analyzing male and masculine culture.
Interested students must have successfully completed ENGL 1301
with a grade of C or higher. |

| | This hybrid course is for students seeking to
impact their community through service. Students
will learn the basics of volunteering, organizing
community members around a common goal and how to
identify resources for community based projects.
A common project will be selected for enrolled
students to implement during this semester. Students
will analyze successful and challenged community initiatives
and use that information to design their selected
project. Reading analysis, writing skills and research
techniques will be developed in this transfer course.
The prerequisite is ENGL 1301. |

contributions of Latino communities, those
of Mexican-Americans in the United States,
in Texas in general, and in the Mountain View
service area in particular. The variety of
countries, religions, and family traditions will
be examined through the Spanish language that
unifies the diverse Hispanic culture. Enrolled
students must speak, read and write Spanish at
a fluent or advanced level to be successful
in this course. For more information contact

in the Mexican American studies program are
encourage to enroll. This course is concurrent with
