It will expore major historical trends and the impact on culture. We will look at early African civilizations, the slave trade, colonialism, post colonialism and current international influence. Content or literature will be drawn from books of African works and research from an African standpoint (both written literature and oral traditions). This class will integrate film, religion, anthropology, sociology and the art from the African perspective.
