 Service Learning combines community service and one hour of academic credit that can be transferred to a public Texas college/university. Service Learning can be used to explore your chosen career field or to explore a new area of interest all while providing service to your community. The student selects an approved agency, attends orientation, volunteers for 20 hours, attends one on-campus meeting and submits written reports. Hospitals require 40 hours. This flex entry course begins on Feb.21. Students MUST contact Dr. Grissom in W259 or at agrissom@dcccd.edu by Feb. 21 but once enrolled in SPCH 2145 and after 1/18/12, students may complete the MVC Online Service Learning Application. After receiving an email stating their application is approved, students may begin their volunteer hours.
