 Intro to Black Families - Course will focus on the historical and cultural development of Black families. Special attention will be given to people, places, and events instrumental in highlighting some of the history surrounding Black family-hood in the Dallas area. Students will be required to do an Ancestry Project which will involve a genealogy search of their family history.

 This class looks at the humanities and social sciences of Africa through an in-depth look at four African regions (East, West, Central & South). It will explore major historical trends and the impact on culture. We will look at early African civilizations, the slave-trade, colonialism, post colonialism and current international influence. Content or literature will be drawn from books of African works and research from an African works and research from an African standpoint (both written literature and oral traditions).
