 Core Tier 2-Humanity, Creativity, and the Aesthetic Experience (CB-040) REQUIREMENTS: Computer/printer accessibility. Since their onset, US media industries have been enormously powerful conveyors of meaning, both nationally and internationally. This course critically examines historical and contemporary stereotypes in movies, sitcoms, popular music, video games, textbooks, advertising and news, looking at some of the reasons for and consequences of stereotyping. MANDATORY attendance 1 day a week face-to-face on-campus and MANDATORY 1.5 hours a week online. NO BOOK REQUIRED No class on 2/19, 3/12.
